I don't understand. Based on the youtube videos you've posted, you've had the Vidock4 for a very short time.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm wondering: is a reason why you are selling it so quickly? eg: is the product junk, overpriced or are considering the cheaper DIY alternative? Villagetronic appear to give refunds for incompatible products.
It's none of those. The main reason is because I'm on a very tight budget. I can only experiment with something for short periods of time.
ReplyDeleteUsually I spend money out of my own pocket to get these neat items. I usually do request loaned systems for these "tests", but I get turned down about nine out of ten requests. Sometimes I imagine something, and I want to do it, so I do. The problem with that is that I'm always imagining more things to do, but manage to NOT get a system loaned. I just gotta stay on the budget.
I don't like selling things that I can use, but to keep funding my little experiments I must. :(
Just wondering, but the GPU card that you used, would that work for games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and such graphic demanding games? I have the same exact laptop, x201, and I was dissappointed that the internal graphics processor is crap.

ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for the tablet that can handle anything someone throws at it. Yes 3D gaming will affect battery life but I believe convertible tablets can be the system that replaces lot's of devices.
Devices like eReaders, desktop computers, gaming systems, long use laptops, and so on. Tablet PCs have the potential and still be mobile systems. I'm getting sidetracked, back to your question.
I have read several different system requirements for Black Ops. Most of them say that it needs a Shader 3.0 or better 256MB GeForce 8600GT or ATI Radeon X1950Pro. The game should run with the HD 5770 + ViDock 4. There are limits to what the express card slot can do, but I haven't researched specific details.
My little experiments show that a game that is visually stunning like Mafia II runs very well. However some games like Empire Total War had to be turned down a bit to get the smooth gameplay to work. Obviously there is also a ViDock 4 Plus that can handle cards like the ATI Radeon HD 5870 and above. My experience with the 5870 is that it can handle everything you throw at it. I have done Eyefinity with three monitors and it works smoothly.
