Gear: Lenovo ThinkPad X201T
I begin and end blogs. The Lenovo ThinkPad X201 Tablet blog (lenovox201.com) was a project that I began after I sold my Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3T. I thought a lot about asking Lenovo for a loaned system, but I never felt that I was influential enough to deserve that. In my mind only those high profile tech blogs can get review units (and most of the time that is the case).
I prepared reasons for why Lenovo should send me a review unit, wrote an email with the reasons and requested a X201T. To my surprise Lenovo's Jeff Witt replied. A reply from a high tech company is something that I never thought would ever happen, and even to this day it does not with other pc manufacturers. Lenovo is a bit different and they have improved their "social" presence on the internet.
Lenovo sent me a X201T for a loan agreement of 9 months! I used the system for 7 months and created plenty of content. When I returned the X201T, Jeff asked me if I wanted to try the new X220T, and of course I said yes!
The price of the X201T that I received was $2,000. I had to be careful not to break/scratch anything or I would be in trouble. The $2,000 price meant that most consumers would not be able to get theirs hands on it. The lenovox201.com blog was not as successful as the lenovos103t.com blog. As much as I tried it was just not going to happen, more people can get their hands on a $500 system than a $2,000 system.
I am still a big fan of the convertible tablet systems. I think they can truly be the "all in one" system that can function as a work and gaming laptop, tablet, and even replace desktop PCs when docked.
I have to give thanks to Jeff Witt, Mark Hopkins, Mark Kohut, Gavin O'Hara, and everyone at Lenovo Social for giving me the opportunity to work indirectly with Lenovo. Thanks to everyone who followed, commented, saw YouTube videos, and contributed to the blog.
